I was catching up on my blogs this morning while BabyLiu attempted to eat Elmo’s eyes when I discovered a knit along on Wendy Knits. I didn’t really think much of it. I’ve always wanted to do a knit along, but BabyLiu takes up a lot of my time right now (she’s kind of labor intensive right now) so I just moved along to Post Secrets.
When BabyLiu went down for a nap, I kept thinking about it since I don’t currently have a project on my needles (not one I’m actively knitting anyway). When I can’t get something out of my mind, it usually means I want to do it. So I took a quick dive into my stash. Wendy suggested a fingering weight yarn that wasn’t “wildly variegated.” This was more difficult than I originally imagined. While I tend to like my clothes in solid colors, I like my yarn colorful. The more color the better! The first thing I pulled out was a gray ball of Silky Malibrigio. It would have worked, if I had more of it. At maybe half it’s original yardage, there was no way it would make it to the end of a shawlette. Luckily, near the bottom of my sock yarn basket (shut up, it’s a fact that sock yarn doesn’t count as stash) I found a ball of Yarn Pirate fingering weigh in Smoke Rings. This may be the most subtly variegated yarn I may own. At least in the sock yarn basket.
I got my cast on and first two rows knit during BabyLiu’s second nap, so I’m all ready for the next installment on Tuesday. Let’s see if I can keep up!
