The Last Project of 2010

This is my last cast-on of 2010. In theory this will be a cute hat for BabyLiu. This hat is based off of this pattern. Of course, the yarn I’m using has a smaller gauge and the hat I’m making is bigger (BabyLiu has a really, really, really big head). Otherwise it (should) is the same.

Because of the yarn change and the larger size, the cast-on was insane. More than 400 stitches. It took for-ev-er. And to top it off, I couldn’t tell if the round was twisted or not. I knit 5 rows before I could see that I did okay. The ruffle really helped hide everything. I was certain that I’d twisted the join. I was equally certain that if I frogged it I’d discover the round wasn’t twisted at all. Rock and a hard place. Fortunately it worked out.

So far.
